Albino A+ is a popular Psilocybe cubensis variety derived from the A+ strain, exhibiting a leucistic mutation. Unlike true albinos that lack all pigmentation, leucistic mushrooms retain dark pigment in their spores, giving Albino A+ spores a dark purple to brown color. The mushrooms themselves range from white to creamy shades, admired for their striking appearance.

The exact origin of Albino A+ is not clearly known, but it is believed that the leucistic trait was selectively isolated for its unique look. Consequently, this resulted in a Cubensis strain noted for its sometimes inverted caps, heavy sporulation, and large fruiting bodies—qualities that have made Albino A+ a favorite among mycology enthusiasts.

Albino A+ spores are dark purple to brown, subellipsoid (ellipse-shaped), and present on 4-spored basidia. The dark pigmentation confirms its leucistic nature, distinguishing it from true albino strains which lack spore pigmentation entirely.
